Collage It Free: Throw together a photo collage

There are plenty of tools for organizing, editing and sharing your photos. But most people act like their photos are in a digital museum. Look, but don't touch. I think that's a little silly.

It's fine to show off your photos. But you can have some fun with them too. Playing with your photos is a great way to spend some time. And with the right tohttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifol you can actually create something cool.

I'll bet you can guess what kind of program CollageIt happens to be. It makes it easy to throw together fun photo collages. Just pick out a selection of your photo library. Tweak some settings. And generate a fun, random collage.

CollageIt supports most common photo file types. So, it should work with any photo in your collection. Adjust photo spacing, rotation and overall collage size. Sizes are based on standard printer paper sizes. This makes printing out your collage easy.

Art from around the world

Going to art galleries can be fun. Seeing paintings up close is a novel experience. There is so much amazing detail to enjoy.

Unfortunately, not every gallery has a good exhibition selection. To see really famous paintings, you have to visit famous galleries and museums. And those are scattered around the world.

That's why Google launched the Art Project site. It's a collection of famous museums and galleries. You can visit amazing venues from the Met to Versailles.

Using Street View technology, you can interactively move through the buildings. You can focus on famous paintings you want to view. Paintings are captured in high-resolution, so you can see unbelievable detail.

App of the Week: Fring - Video chatting for everyone

iTunes Android
AVAILABLE FOR

Facetime is an awesome feature of Apple's iPhone 4 and new iPod touch. It allows users to videoconference with each other.

But Facetime means the other person has to use one of those Apple devices. What about the multitudes of Android users out there? Can't we video chat with them, too?

Fring bridges that gap. It can be installed on both iOS and Android devices. Anyone who has Fring can video chat with each other. Better still, Fring can video chat over Wi-Fi or 3G. Facetime requires Wi-Fi.

Don't feel like getting on camera? Fring can also just make standard voice calls. Or you can simply instant message each other.

Easily comment on PDFs and image files

PDF files are great for sharing documents. PDF is a compact format that can be opened on any computer. Plus, it can contain text, images and whatever else you need. The downside is that PDFs are difficult to edit. You need special software to edit them after they're created. This makes sharing PDF files for collaboration difficult. Filling in PDF forms is also difficult.

That's where today's Cool Site comes in handy. It lets you extensively mark up PDF and image files. You can add notes and drawings and highlight problem areas. It also makes filling in form information easy.

The PDF can then be downloaded or shared using a simple Web link. You can send it to other members of your team. They can go the site to see your comments and add their own.

Protect your email address

Posting your email address online is a risky thing to do. On some sites, you can control who sees it. Other sites, however, leave it open to the world. You want to avoid the open sites whenever possible. Spammers have very sophisticated ways of collecting email addresses. You're practically inviting the spam into your inbox. It's like giving out your phone number at a telemarketing convention.

Sometimes, however, you need to share your email address. You might be trying to sell something online, for example. That's where today's Cool Site comes in handy.

It lets you hide your email address behind a shortened link. To see your email address, someone has to click the link. Then they have to answer a quick CAPTCHA. This foils the automated collection tools spammers use.

Note that this system won't protect you from scammers and creeps. Those are real people. So you'll still want to be careful where you post the link.

Clean forwarded email

Do you get a lot of forwarded emails? You know, the ones titled “Why Are Computers A Lot Like Cats?”

After making the rounds, they tend to look messy. You can clean things up with this email tool.

Basically, EmailStripper does a Gypsy Rose Lee on all those ">" characters. The result is a more readable, buff-and-cut email.
